A coordinated ransomware attack has affected at least 20 local government entities in Texas, the Texas Department of Information Resources said. It would not release information about which local governments have been affected.
“They follow me on Twitter, they have attempted to figure out where I live and there have been a lot of hidden messages in the ransomware (code),” Wosar said via Skype from an undisclosed location in London.
A Beaver Township, Ohio-based eye practice reported a ransomware attack that initially occurred two weeks ago and still affects its computer system, according to the Business Journal Daily .
The health information that was impacted by the ransomware may have included a patient’s full name, date of birth, social security number, phone number, home address, insurance, and medical record information, including diagnosis and treatment.
