Magnet Process Capture
Fast incident-response situations where full RAM capture is too slow
Investigations focused on suspicious or high-value processes
Recovering less fragmented process memory and larger data types
Examiners who want process-level context for recovered artifacts in later analysis
Workflows that complement full RAM capture rather than replace it
Magnet Process Capture is a free tool designed to capture memory from individual running processes instead of acquiring the entire contents of system RAM. It is built for investigators who need a faster, more targeted way to preserve volatile evidence when only certain processes matter.
Magnet says Process Capture is useful when time is limited or when investigators are only interested in specific processes. The company also says selective capture can provide less fragmented data, better recovery of larger data types, and added context showing which captured processes contained recovered artifacts when the output is later searched in tools such as Magnet AXIOM.
Process Capture is strongest when the need is focused volatile-memory collection from selected processes, not full-system memory acquisition. It is a support utility, not a complete memory-forensics platform by itself.
